About The Lab Tests

Gi Map

At Vivena Whole Health, we use the Gastrointestinal Microbial Assay Plus (GI-MAP) to gain comprehensive, clinically relevant insight into gut health and uncover root causes of chronic symptoms.
This at-home stool test is a cornerstone of functional medicine, allowing us to move beyond symptom management and develop targeted, personalized protocols. Because the gut plays a central role in digestion, hormone balance, immune function, and overall whole body health, in-depth gut testing is foundational to the healing process.
The GI-MAP provides a detailed analysis of the gut microbiome, identifying imbalances such as pathogenic bacteria, parasites, viruses, and microbial overgrowths, while also evaluating key markers of digestion, nutrient absorption, inflammation, and immune activity, giving us the clarity needed to restore balance and support long-term, whole-body health.

MBA

A Mucosal Barrier Assessment is a dry blood spot test. It evaluates the health and integrity of the gut lining, which plays a critical role in digestion, immune regulation, and systemic inflammation.

This assessment measures key markers involved in gut barrier function and immune response, helping identify increased intestinal permeability (commonly referred to as “leaky gut”), impaired immune defense, and inflammatory stress within the gastrointestinal tract.

When the mucosal barrier is compromised, the body may become more reactive to foods, microbes, and environmental stressors, contributing to symptoms such as bloating, fatigue, skin issues, autoimmunity, and hormone disruption.

By understanding how well the gut lining is protecting and communicating with the immune system, we are able to design targeted, restorative protocols that support barrier repair, immune balance, and long-term digestive resilience.
SHP
The Stress and Hormone Panel is a comprehensive assessment that evaluates adrenal function, hormone balance, and the body’s response to stress.

This panel measures free cortisol to assess daily adrenal rhythm, DHEA as a marker of adrenal reserve, and key sex hormones including estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone.

By examining these markers together, we gain insight into energy patterns, stress resilience, reproductive health, and overall hormonal balance.

This information allows us to create personalized protocols that support adrenal recovery, optimize hormone function, and address the root causes of symptoms such as fatigue, sleep disturbances, mood changes, and hormone-related imbalances.

DUTCH

The DUTCH test (Dried Urine Test for Comprehensive Hormones) is a comprehensive hormone assessment that offers a deeper, more nuanced understanding of both sex and adrenal hormone activity, including how these hormones are broken down and utilized by the body.

Rather than providing a simple snapshot of hormone levels, this test evaluates hormone metabolism patterns, offering valuable insight into adrenal function, reproductive health, energy regulation, detoxification pathways, oxidative stress, and potential nutrient imbalances.

This level of detail makes the DUTCH test particularly effective for identifying underlying contributors to hormone-related concerns such as PCOS, insulin resistance, irregular menstrual cycles, endometriosis, erectile dysfunction, and persistent symptoms like fatigue, sleep disturbances, acne, and unexplained weight changes.

Using these findings, we design individualized, root-cause–focused protocols that support hormone balance while addressing the broad physiological factors influencing long-term health and resilience.
MWP
The Metabolic Wellness Profile is an at-home dried urine assessment that evaluates key markers involved in detoxification, oxidative stress, and metabolic function.

This profile measures total urinary bile acids (UBA) to assess bile flow and detoxification capacity, 8-OHdG as an indicator of oxidative DNA damage, and Indican to evaluate microbial activity and protein breakdown in the gut.

Imbalances in these markers may contribute to fatigue, inflammation, hormone disruption, and impaired metabolic resilience. By analyzing these findings together, we are able to identify underlying metabolic stressors and develop targeted, root-cause–focused protocols that support detoxification pathways, gut balance, and overall metabolic health.
MRT
The Mediator Release Test (MRT) is an advanced assessment that identifies food and chemical sensitivities that may be triggering inflammation and immune reactions in your body.

Unlike standard allergy tests, the MRT measures the release of inflammatory mediators from white blood cells, providing a comprehensive view of delayed immune responses that can contribute to digestive issues, fatigue, skin problems, headaches, and other chronic symptoms.

By pinpointing foods and environmental triggers that provoke inflammation, we can create a personalized elimination and reintroduction plan designed to reduce immune stress, calm inflammation, and restore overall balance to your body.

It is organized by color coding. This allows for a customized anti-inflammatory protocol.
